Discover What It Really Means to Be Blessed
In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus identified attitudes that bring God's favor: weeping over sin, demonstrating meekness, showing mercy, nurturing peace, and more. Some of these phrases have become so familiar that we've lost sight of their meaning.
In this powerful study, you will gain a fresh understanding of what it looks like to align your life with God's priorities. Here you will discover anew why the word blessed mean walking the fulness and satisfaction of God, no matter your circumstances. As you look closely at the meaning behind each of the Beatitudes, you will see how these truths can shape your choices every day--and bring you closer to the heart of God.

Certain events and moments in time have changed the course of history. A few, a precious few, have even changed the course of eternity. Take for example the birth, the death, and the resurrection of Jesus Christ. His life changed not only history but even eternity.
Jesus’ delivery of the Sermon on the Mount is one of those pivotal events. In what is now undoubtedly the most famous sermon in the world Jesus took righteousness to a whole new level, all in one fell swoop. He defined religion in a way that was then, and is still
today, countercultural, radical, and even revolutionary.
The sermon itself can be preached word-for-word in eighteen minutes, but you could spend a lifetime studying it and never completely search out its depths. The introduction alone—the subject of numerous books, essays, and discussions—is so powerful, so inspiring that it carries its own name exclusive of the Sermon on the Mount: The Beatitudes. In these few verses Jesus introduces the core belief system that
changed the world.
As you study what it means to be blessed of God and how those blessings are manifest in our lives, you will see that this is the practical side of living in a real world. As we live out the blessings, we become a light shining in the darkness, a city set on a hill that cannot be hidden. We become ambassadors for the Son of God.
We then have the opportunity to impact world— all because we studied the introduction to a two thousand-year-old sermon.

Six-week discussion group Bible study of the Beatitudes
By John M. Lowe
This is a review of Turning Your Heart Toward God (2010) by Kay Arthur, David Lawson, and BJ Lawson.
Turning Your Heart Toward God is a handbook for a six-week, no-homework, discussion-based, small-group Bible study. Each lesson is designed to be completed in a 40-minute session. A facilitator, not a teacher, is needed to keep the discussions moving.
The lessons contained in this book are drawn from the Beatitudes as found in the opening verses of Jesus' Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5:1-12). The focus of the lessons is on a Christian's walk with God. These lessons will work with women's groups, men's groups, home study groups, Sunday school classes, and the like.
Each lesson begins with a brief overview of the material in the chapter and concludes with a wrap-up that incorporates suggestions for personal application and prayer.
Lesson pages are laid out in two columns. The narrower of the two columns is reserved for Bible texts, both the primary text and the cross-references. The wider column consists of observations alternating with discussion questions. Interspersed among the observations and questions, the reader will find "Insight Boxes," sometimes containing a word study, at other times a brief commentary.
Guidelines for the Bible study leader will be found in the observations. This enables both the facilitator and the student to use the same book.
Question: How good is this book? Answer: It depends on the group and the facilitator. I know. I know. "It depends" is not a hugely satisfactory way to answer a question. Nevertheless, the real benefits of this book will be found in the spoken words (discussions, applications, and prayers) that are derivatives of the written words (Bible texts, observations, and questions).

Turn you heart toward this book
By Jazzzak
I think this is an excellent bible study with a relevant topic. People tend to think of success based on our successes in the world: material things, wealth, career, while the Beatitudes point out the opposite things that God appreciates in us, like sacrifice, giving, forgiveness, peacefulness, etc. I especially like the Wrap It Up sections at the end of each section. The additional verses relating to the topice are very helpful also. I would definitely recommend this for small study groups, or even as a sermon guide for a message.

Great way to learn the Kay Arthur Bible Study method
By ReadingMom
I bought 10 of these books to use with a group of 8th grade girls. This series of 40-Minute Bible Studies is a very simple, yet satisfying approach to studying a particular topic in the Bible. The book is very interactive. You are asked to underline certain words in the text that bring out the message of a particular passage. Those who have used Kay Arthur's method of studying the Bible will find these books to be very familiar. They are actually a good introduction to her method of study. The format allows for a lot of flexibility. You could use this book on your own, or with a small group. You don't need to have a Bible. All the Bible passages you study are printed in a column to the left or right of the questions.
